Light Up Your Autumn with Blackpool’s Fireworks, Illuminations & Lightpool Festival

Each autumn, Blackpool transforms into a festival of light, music, and colour.

The World Fireworks Championship lights up the night sky over the Tower Festival Headland, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to the town’s iconic seafront. In 2025, the displays take place on Saturday, September 13th, Saturday, September 27th, and Saturday, October 11th. Last year, the championship was won by the pyrotechnic team from Poland, and this year promises more dazzling, music-synced spectacles from international teams.

But the fireworks are just one part of Blackpool’s incredible autumn line-up. The famous Blackpool Illuminations shine nightly from Friday, August 29th to Sunday, January 4th 2026. This year’s highlights include the Guardians of the North dragons, Wild Light wildlife scenes, and playful installations such as Lusch Puppy, LOVE, HUG, and the towering Space Canopy.

Adding to the magic, the Lightpool Festival returns this October half term, running from Wednesday, October 15th to Saturday, November 1st. This free event brings extra sparkle with light-based art, 3D projection shows, and live performances across both indoor and outdoor venues. More details on the programme coming soon.

Blackpool offers plenty to explore during the day or across a weekend. From panoramic views at the Tower Eye to thrills at the Tower Circus and Tower Dungeon, there’s something for everyone.
