A new digital guide is giving Blackpool’s growing student and apprentice community more ways to explore, experience and connect with the town beyond the classroom.
Blackpool BIDs, working with Blackpool & The Fylde College, have launched The Blackpool Student Edit, a new digital guide designed to help students and apprentices discover the places, experiences, events and opportunities available across Blackpool.
From independent cafés and places to eat and drink, to live music, cultural experiences, student offers, events and volunteering opportunities, the guide brings together some of the best ways for students to make the most of their time in Blackpool.
The first edition has been shared digitally with students and apprentices at Blackpool & The Fylde College, encouraging them to explore the town beyond their studies and connect with the businesses, venues and experiences on their doorstep.

Discover more beyond the classroom
Blackpool has always been a place to discover something new. For students, the town offers far more than somewhere to attend college, it is a place to meet friends, experience live entertainment, discover independent businesses, get involved in the community and create memories.
The Blackpool Student Edit has been created as an easy-to-use resource, bringing together useful information and student-friendly recommendations across a range of areas, including:
- Places to eat
- Study spaces
- Student offers and discounts
- Events and activities
- Music and culture
- Health and wellbeing
- Volunteering opportunities
- Getting around Blackpool
- Keeping safe
Whether students have lived in Blackpool all their lives, have recently moved to the town to study or travel into the area for college or an apprenticeship, the guide aims to encourage them to discover something new.
Supporting Blackpool’s growing student community
Blackpool’s student community is continuing to grow, with the Multiversity set to open in 2028, creating further opportunities for people to live, learn and spend time in the heart of the town.
The launch of The Blackpool Student Edit forms part of a wider ambition to help students feel connected to the town and encourage them to become active participants in Blackpool’s community, culture and economy.
Students are an important part of Blackpool’s future – as customers, employees, creatives, volunteers and members of the local community. Creating opportunities for them to explore and engage with the town can help build connections that continue long after their studies have finished.
More than a one-off guide
The Blackpool Student Edit is designed to develop alongside Blackpool’s student community rather than being a one-off publication.
Students will be able to discover new offers, events and opportunities through ongoing activity across Blackpool BIDs’ channels, the GO Blackpool app and seasonal campaigns.
Local businesses and venues can also play a role by sharing student-friendly offers, events and experiences, helping to create even more reasons for students to explore Blackpool and support the town’s local economy.
A shared ambition
The initiative reflects a shared ambition from Blackpool BIDs and Blackpool & The Fylde College to help students make the most of their time in the town and feel part of the wider Blackpool community.
The Blackpool Student Edit is an invitation to explore, experience and discover more of Blackpool.
An opportunity for Blackpool businesses
The Blackpool Student Edit is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to connect with a valuable and growing audience.
Throughout the academic year, Blackpool BIDs will continue to promote student-friendly businesses, offers and events through a programme of marketing activity.
Businesses can get involved by sharing with us:
- A student discount or special offer
- An event or activity aimed at students
- A student-friendly product or service
- A welcoming place to eat, drink, study or socialise
Participating offers and events can be promoted through Blackpool BIDs’ social media channels, the GO Blackpool app and future seasonal campaign activity.
We’ll also be introducing campaign posters across the town, allowing businesses to display their own student offers and show their support for Blackpool’s student community.
If you’d like to get involved and submit your offer or event, we’d love to hear from you.
