With over 80 years of heritage in the region, Partington’s Holiday Parks continues to contribute to welcoming visitors to the Fylde Coast.
What began as a small family-run park has grown into a multi-park operation supporting local tourism, increasing seasonal footfall, and enhancing the area’s reputation as a family-friendly destination.
Led by fourth-generation siblings Rob Kearsley and Andrea Challis, the business remains rooted in Lancashire.
Rob Kearsley said: “We grew up on the parks, but I was first properly involved and working from age eleven at the weekends and during the holidays, and from then on it was all I ever wanted to do.”
One of its flagship locations, Windy Harbour Holiday Park, is situated just outside Blackpool and attracts thousands of visitors annually, many of whom return regularly. These guests not only stay at the parks but also visit local shops, explore Blackpool attractions, dine locally, and support businesses throughout the region.
Partington’s focus on delivering quality experiences has helped shape the local holiday offering. The parks host regular events, themed weekends, and traditional activities that extend beyond accommodation, creating memorable experiences that encourage families to return year after year.
Andrea Challis said: “Our values are fun, family, friendly and that for me starts and ends with us.”
In 2023, the company opened Walterz, a £2 million entertainment venue at Newton Hall. Plans are now progressing for a new £75 million leisure development near Blackpool, which will include eco-lodges, a luxury spa, and enhanced recreational facilities.
This development aims to meet the expectations of modern holidaymakers while creating new employment opportunities and supporting infrastructure growth across the Fylde tourism corridor.
While evolving its offerings, Partington’s maintains a strong community focus. The parks collaborate with local suppliers, promote regional produce, and support sustainability through initiatives such as solar power and on-site food growing. With over 75 percent of managers being women and many staff members employed for decades, the company fosters continuity and a welcoming atmosphere for visitors.
This combination of heritage, innovation, and community engagement positions Partington’s as a key contributor to the local visitor economy by encouraging longer stays, repeat visits, and supporting the ongoing development of tourism in Blackpool and the Fylde Coast.
