Christmas is officially here in Blackpool with the opening of the Christmas By The Sea village, bringing festive cheer to the seafront.
The launch event, which took place on Friday, saw Strictly Come Dancing stars Carlos Gu, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu and Neil Jones help with the switch-on, adding a touch of sparkle to the celebrations.
Their appearance was the perfect way to begin the seven weeks of fun that will now take place.
This year, Christmas By The Sea is bigger and better than ever. The outdoor village features a free ice skating rink, open daily from noon to 9pm (except Christmas Day) until January 5th, 2025. It’s the perfect spot for a skate with friends or family.
In addition to the rink, visitors can enjoy a variety of themed attractions, food stalls and light displays.
New rides include the Snow Dome Waltzer and the German Swing Grill, along with the return of the Star Flyer, which at 196 feet, is one of Europe’s tallest swing rides.
The opening event also featured performances from local groups like the Blackpool Ice Drome Charities Association (BIDCA) and Scream Theatre Schools.
Blackpool will continue to glow with the extended Illuminations, running through to January 5th, 2025.
For those planning a visit, parking has been made easier with £2 for up to four hours at many of Blackpool Council’s car parks.
If you haven’t yet experienced Christmas By The Sea, now’s the perfect time to come down and enjoy everything it has to offer.
With the ice rink, exciting rides and festive displays, it’s an event sure to get you in the Christmas spirit.
