The skies above Blackpool were lit up in spectacular fashion as Nakaja Art from Poland emerged victorious in the annual World Fireworks Championship Blackpool.
Their carefully choreographed “pyromusical” display, synchronised perfectly to music, left both judges and the audience in awe during the first of three showstopping performances held at the Tower Festival Headland.
The judges praised the team’s creative use of Poland’s national colours, along with their impressive technical skills, which helped them stand out in a field that also included entrants from Finland and the USA. Team Poland is no stranger to large-scale pyrotechnics, having created major displays across Europe and Central America, including a remarkable fireworks spectacle for a Jean Michel Jarre concert in Krakow.
This year’s championship attracted record crowds, with around 50,000 people attending each of the free events. The combination of brilliant weather and breathtaking performances helped make it one of the most successful in the event’s history.
Cllr Lynn Williams, Leader of Blackpool Council and one of the competition’s judges, said: “It’s been a fantastic year for the fireworks. The weather has been on our side, and the sheer number of residents and visitors who turned up to enjoy the shows was incredible. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!”
The World Fireworks Championship is a key part of Blackpool’s extensive autumn and winter events programme. Visitors can still look forward to a packed schedule, including the award-winning Lightpool Festival, the exciting Halloween By The Sea, and the festive wonderland of Christmas By The Sea, as well as the famous Blackpool Illuminations, which run until January 2025.
Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on Blackpool’s upcoming events, and don’t miss your chance to be part of the excitement!
